Who I am
Wherry Works is a trading name of Samuel Blake ("I", "me"), a sole trader. Postal address: 80A Ruskin Ave, Welling, London DA16 3QQ. I am the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: [email protected].
What I collect and why
Enquiries. When you email me I collect your name, business name, email, phone (if given) and your message. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (replying to you) and steps before a contract.
Clients. Contact and billing details, and the work records needed to deliver and invoice the service. Lawful basis: contract; legal obligation for accounting records.
Business marketing emails. I may email limited companies at generic business addresses published on their own website (for example info@) about my services. Lawful basis: legitimate interests. I get these addresses from the company's own website and check the company on Companies House. Every email tells you how to opt out, and I keep a suppression list so I never contact you again once you ask.
Your customers' data. When I set up automations in a client's own accounts, the client remains the controller of their customers' data and I act as their processor under a written data-processing agreement. I work inside the client's systems and do not keep copies.
Website. My host may keep basic server logs (such as IP addresses) for security. I do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Who I share it with
My service providers only: website hosting (Cloudflare), email hosting (Google Workspace), and accounting software. Some providers may process data outside the UK under UK-approved safeguards. I never sell data.
How long I keep it
Enquiries that do not become work: 12 months. Client records: 6 years after the end of the tax year (HMRC rules). Suppression list: kept indefinitely, holding only the address and date, so I can honour your opt-out.
Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, object to processing (including any marketing, which I will stop), or ask me to restrict it. Email [email protected]. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
AI tools
I use AI tools to help draft documents and message templates. I do not put enquiry or client personal data into AI tools that would use it to train their models. See how I use AI.
